The Full Remediation of Kent Mold Damage

Don’t panic when you find mold in your Kent home. Contact our SERVPRO IICRC-Certified technicians to remediate the mold damage.
SERVPRO Provides Rapid Mold Damage Removal
While we are leading remediation professionals capable of removing active mold colonies where they are found, this statement does not often address the complexities of each structure where this service is necessary. From single-family homes in King County to massive venues like the Accesso ShoWare Center, we have skilled professionals to manage:
- Moisture Damage
- Mold Growth
- Harsh Malodors
- Structural Damages
The SERVPRO team can overcome Kent mold damage where discovered, and we mobilize quickly to ensure that the situation does not worsen. Our microbial remediation responders arrive fast to set up containment barriers and begin mitigation actions to protect the property from more significant mold infestation concerns.
Is Mold Likely in King County?
The position of King County in the Pacific Northwest, along with expected rainfall and weather events, leaves the environment heavily saturated and humid. Improper ventilation combined with poor air quality can contribute to the development of microbial growths in a residence. With the frequency of mold damage claims and the activity of our remediation team, mold is a more significant threat to Kent homes than its residents might realize.
Damage Inspections and Assessment
While it is possible to identify or begin to suspect mold growth in your home without professional services, the inspection and assessment of your property are one of the initial remediation services our SERVPRO team provides. We must learn the extent of the damage, affected hosting materials, and present hazards. This information aids our crew in developing the best remediation approach to help remove active colonies.
AMRT-Certified Technicians
We are accredited through firms like the IICRC and the National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors (NORMI) to manage microbial threats. Because of the multi-faceted restoration and cleanup necessary, including air duct cleaning and controlled demolition, a full-service roster of professionals ready to help like our SERVPRO team is vital to successful mold abatement.
Removing Mold Damage
The heart of the remediation process is mold removal. While we do not make broad claims to eliminate all spores from a residence, we can provide the needed work to remove active colonies and moist conditions. The remediation process often gets split into three groups:
- Surface Cleaning – Without penetrating the outermost layer, we can use potent sporicidal products to eliminate mold and make other surfaces uninhabitable.
- Abrasive Removal - Involves blasting or sanding to impact the space just beyond the surface layer to remove mold growth.
- Controlled Demolition – When other methods are not efficient, our licensed professionals can remove heavily damaged building materials and discard them.
Reducing and Removing Musty Smells
Malodors are a common element of the mold growth damage a property faces. Often, musty smells indicate active colonies, helping homeowners realize a problem that must get addressed. These odors linger even after remediation nears completion, requiring more direct and focused deodorization with tools like thermal foggers and hydroxyl machines.
Where Mold Damage Repairs Are Needed
Mold can be destructive to hosting elements the colony uses as a food source. Our licensed professionals begin the reconstruction side of mold remediation in the early efforts like a controlled demolition and constructing temporary containment barriers to prevent the migration of spores. Additionally, our roster of contractors must also help with:
- Plumbing Repairs
- Material Replacement
- Mold Prevention
Kent mold damage is often underappreciated and not as recognizable as water or fire damage concerns. Microbial threats should be treated with the same urgency and thorough cleaning as these other emergencies as they pose similar threats to the structure. Our SERVPRO of Kent team is ready to help when you need it at (253) 850-1500.
Why Is Soda Blasting Good for Kent Mold Remediation?
7/31/2022 (Permalink)
Finding mold damage in your home can cause a lot of stress. Contact SERVPRO for certified technicians and professional equipment. We’re standing by.
SERVPRO uses the best technology for Kent mold remediation
Mold can grow anywhere in your home, from your bathroom and kitchen to the attic and basement. Wherever there is a fungus, there is the potential for spores to escape and start new colonies. That is why it is vital to get help with mold growth as soon as you spot it.
If you need mold remediation in your Kent home, choose a service that uses the best and latest technology. SERVPRO has many methods at our disposal, but one advantageous mold remediation technique is soda blasting. Soda blasting:
- Uses tiny particles of baking soda to scrub away mold colonies.
- Is well-suited to exposed brickwork or wood, such as in the attic or crawl space.
- Does not use toxic chemicals or other nasties.
- Deodorizes as it cleans for a fresh and polished result.
Soda blasting is much gentler than some other popular media blasting methods, such as sandblasting, making it suitable for use in your home. Our IICRC certified technicians also take care of drying and deodorizing your house and belongings.
If you need trustworthy mold remediation, call SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500.
Why Kent Homeowners Should Get Professional Mold Remediation
6/24/2022 (Permalink)
SERVPRO remediates mold damage in our customers' homes in the Kent area of WA.
We Take Mold Damage Very Seriously at Your Kent Home
A typical action many homeowners do when they have mold damage is to Google it for home remedies. This tactic works great for the mold infestation but not so great for the home and contents, as it allows the colonies to continue to thrive and spread.
Professional mold remediation in Kent homes should begin as soon as signs of an infestation get noticed. Musty odors, visible mold, and signs of water damage all point to colonies growing behind the scenes.
Why SERVPRO?
The certified technicians undergo extensive water, fire, biohazard, and mold restoration training. Our goal is to save homeowners replacement costs for the structure and contents through advanced cleaning methods.
Locating the Reason for Mold
There are numerous reasons mold occurs within properties. The conditions enabling the colonies with improper handling have the potential to return. The techs carefully scope and look for the root cause; typical scenarios include inadequate ventilation, previous flood or water damage, and leaks.
Careful Abatement and Controlled Demolition
When sheetrock and other building materials receive mold effects, it often requires removal and disposal. During the abatement of colonies, the techs usually contain the area to stop the spread of any airborne spores. After drying existing colonies, the remaining debris on wood beams gets removed through gentle hand-scraping or soda blasting.
Post-Remediation Actions
The techs use specially formulated cleaning agents to kill any spores resident on surfaces. The application of an antimicrobial sealant gets used on the framework before the reinstallation of sheetrock to inhibit mold return.
Repairs and Restoration
During mold damage mitigation, it is common for properties to need sheetrock replaced, cabinets installed, and flooring replaced. With our general contractor license #SERVPCS911LE, the techs offer a full transitional service from restoration to reconstruction as needed to bring the home to its preloss condition.
SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500 has the tools and equipment to provide professional mold remediation services to local homeowners and restore the home "Like it never even happened."

Eliminating Active Mold Colonies Requires Several Strategies in Residences
With the natural humidity in the Pacific Northwest, towns like Tukwila feature many homes that continually contend with mold and microbial threats. In lower-lying areas like the basement or sellers of these properties, damp conditions can facilitate naturally occurring mold spores on organic matter. While this might seem like a common occurrence, these organisms' presence can be damaging to the property and create health effects for those exposed.
Removing Mold from Tukwila Homes
Remediation seeks to eliminate active colonization, which differs from other mold removal companies in Tukwila. Our professionals understand that your time and money are valuable commodities, which encourage an efficient and direct solution for active colonization when it exists. When Are Electric Submersible Pumps the Right Choice for Kent Homes?
2/27/2022 (Permalink)
Many types of pumps are needed to tackle the water damage in your home. Call SERVPRO to figure out the best way for water damage restoration.
Powerful Tools can Aid Water Damage Restoration in Kent Properties like Submersible Pumps
Many mitigation tools are needed to protect a property and its sensitive contents from harmful water damage events. After evaluating your home's needs, we can introduce devices like electric submersible pumps to overcome standing water throughout the house. For several reasons, this is among the most commonly used water removal tools for deep extraction needs.
The Importance of Water Removal Services
Water damage restoration in Kent properties relies on the efficient removal of surface water. Any standing water incident can impact materials and contents throughout the property, making it vital to provide sufficient water removal services where necessary. Using a combination of extraction devices and techniques, we can focus on:
- Removing Surface Water
- Clearing Puddling and Pooling
- Eliminating Trapped Moisture in Materials
How Do Electric Submersible Pumps Work?
Using a constant source of power, a motor within the submersible pump works to drive the system. During this process, kinetic energy is created and increased. Part of this generated energy becomes pressure that pulls and lifts the liquid through the unit and out the discharge line.
When Should They Be Used?
Every water damage incident is not ideal for using electric submersible pumps to resolve. Certain extraction needs to appeal to the appropriate conditions necessary to quickly and adequately remove standing water down to the desired level. When water damage and pooling are beneath two inches in depth, sufficient prime is not attainable with the instrument, and other extraction devices should be used instead.
Extraction is the most vital effort our professionals can undertake when restoring homes and businesses after water losses. This mitigation strategy protects the property and prevents absorption into flooring materials whenever possible. Electric submersible pumps play a role in this management of standing water. Give our SERVPRO of Kent team a call now at (253) 850-1500.
Why is Air Quality So Important During Kent Mold Removal?
2/7/2022 (Permalink)
Look for signs of mold and call SERVPRO for complete mold remediation.
SERVPRO Techs Have Experience Handling Kent Mold Remediation
Mold damage can spread across a Kent property in numerous ways. One of the most common is when someone attempts to remove the visible mold colonies and accidentally sends the spores airborne throughout the home.
Although it would not be possible to perform complete mold removal in a Kent property because mold spores naturally occur both inside and outside of structures, SERVPRO technicians possess the training and experience to eradicate mold infestations within all types of properties successfully.
SERVPRO frequently gets brought into properties to handle mold remediation duties because the homeowner suspects mold but has not visually confirmed it yet. Our IICRC trained technicians can use their equipment to determine likely areas where mold colonies are active. Improving air quality during the mitigation is a standard part of the process. Standard procedures include:
- Containment
- Use of specific equipment
- Cleaning agents formulated for use against mold growth
Air Quality Equipment and Techniques
One of the mainstays during mold mitigation services is using an air scrubber. This powerhouse piece of equipment pulls copious amounts of air into its labyrinth of HEPA filtration, where it captures and holds airborne spores and particulates dislodged during the remediation.
Another method of porting airborne spores off-site is through self-created tubing, creating a negative air chamber that continually forces air into the tube and removes it through a window or doorway vent.
Final Applications
The use of antimicrobial cleaners and sealants can go a long way to inhibiting the return of a mold infestation. The mold growth must get identified to be taken care of, whether the problem is from a slow leak or poor ventilation.
SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500 makes a healthy environment a priority during professional mold remediation services in Kent.
What Issues Can Frozen Pipes and Ice Damming Cause in Kent Homes?
1/2/2022 (Permalink)
Frozen pipes and ice damming can quietly affect your home. Be vigilant and contact our SERVPRO team if you are facing resulting damage.
SERVPRO Technicians Can Restore the Winter Water Damage in Kent Properties
The threat of water damage within Kent properties looms all year round; however, winter brings its own set of dangers. Cold weather can lead to a host of issues that can be costly, and many of these situations could have been prevented with some proactive winterization of the property.
The danger points for frozen pipes and ice damming to cause problems within Kent properties are actions most homeowners can handle on their own to lessen the chances of this home disaster occurring. First, understanding how ice dams arise is crucial to prevent them. Three main factors play into the event:
- Poorly or uninsulated attic allowing warm air to escape
- Snowmelt on the roof causes water to run to the edge
- Gutters blocked by debris or ice stop the water flow and back it up
- Roofing with loose or damaged shingles can allow the water from the snowmelt to enter the home
Simply by keeping the gutters on the home clean or installing covers, ensuring the attic has adequate insulation, and keeping snow drifts off the roof can go a long way towards lowering the potential of ice dams causing water damage to the home.
Frozen pipes occur when the water within a line freezes. As water turns to ice, it expands within the pipe and can easily rupture it. The water held back by pressure comes spraying out. Ensuring that pipes up against exterior walls have adequate insulation and wrapping outdoor faucets with a professional cover made from Thinsulate or another comparable product can prevent this from occurring.
SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500 stands ready to help local Kent residents with all types of winter water damage issues such as frozen pipes and ice damming.
Removing Smoke Odors from Garaged Vehicles in Tukwila Homes
9/16/2021 (Permalink)
When smoke and odor damage from fire attacks your vehicle. You need the help of SERVPRO and their fire damage restoration service.
Odor Removal For Special Areas Requires Focused Cleaning and Deodorization in Tukwila Properties.
When garage fires occur, vehicles parked can become heavily exposed to smoke and fire damage. Odors can spread fast in this confined space, including penetrating the interior of cars. Some of the areas in the auto most likely to trap odors include:
- Dashboard
- Door Cavities
- Inside the Ventilation System
- Seats
Odor Counteractant Practices in the Vehicle
Ventilation is common practice with removing harsh odors from damaged spaces during fire restoration in Tukwila properties. Keeping the doors open can begin to air out strong smells. The placement of counteractant granules and beads can trap odors within the car, including the ventilation system.
Fogging and Cleaning Surfaces in the Car
Thermal and ULV fogging approaches can begin to noticeably reduce the presence of harsh odors trapped in crevices and fabrics. Cleaning surfaces can also reduce the severity of smoke odors in vehicles exposed to fire losses.
The Advantages of an Ozone Machine
While ozone machines are a popular choice for deodorization, these options are not without potential concerns. Generators produce an unsafe environment for technicians and occupants, so the use of neutralizing ozone machines needs to be heavily regulated and documented to meet specific usage guidelines. By introducing an unstable chemical compound into the smoke-damaged area, the produced ozone bonds with odor molecules and neutralizes them.
Fires that begin in areas like the garage are subject to accelerant exposure and fuels that can make soot and harsh odors a formidable obstacle during restoration. Our experienced fire recovery team can provide efficient and thorough cleaning of the affected space, such as vehicles, and return these cars to preloss condition as fast as possible. Our SERVPRO of Kent team is standing by 24/7 to help at (253) 850-1500.

Dealing with the aftermath of a fire can be overwhelming. Contact SERVPRO and we'll be there for you during the entire process.
Fire and Smoke Removal Services in Tukwila Utilizes Immersion Cleaning as an Effective Agent Against Fire Damage
For materials that can stand being thoroughly saturated, immersion cleaning is a very effective cleaning method. One of the things it works very well on is Venetian blinds.
SERVPRO Provides Immersion Cleaning 101
Professional fire and smoke removal services in Tukwila that employs the right cleaning method for the material. With immersion cleaning, the content gets dipped in a bath consisting of a cleaning agent. We often use a portable basin or sink to prepare hot water and then add a cleaner such as our Ultra Content Cleaner. The process involves:
- Immersing the object in the cleaning solution
- Hand cleaning the item
- Using a towel or brush to dislodge soil
- Rinsing with fresh water
Ultrasonic Cleaning
This type of cleaning is less labor-intensive and highly effective. Items get placed in an ultrasonic tank with a cleaning solution. The sound waves then create millions of bubbles, which implode and clean the material. High temperatures and microscopic jets of water are produced during the process, which agitates and scrub the content.

Our fire damage experts can have your home back to its original state, “Like it never even happened.”
Kent Homeowners Want Their Homes To Smell Good After Fire Cleanup/Restoration.
Kent homeowners do not want to deal with a disaster in their house. However, no matter how careful you are, disasters can still happen. When it does, SERVPRO of Kent is here for you 24 hours, all year round. We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster, so it is a good idea to call us as soon as you can.
If you need fire cleanup/restoration in your Kent home, it is essential to choose a company that understands odor removal. Our SERVPRO customers often tell us that the lingering smoky smell is one of the worst parts of a fire in the home. Even when the house is cleaned up, and life is back to normal, the smell of soot can be overpowering. It is hard to move on from the trauma of a blaze if the smoke smell is a constant reminder.
Why is it so hard to get rid of smoky smells?
Smoke is a notoriously tough odor to deal with. If you happen to know someone who smokes cigars or even burns incense and candles, you see how the smell of smoke lingers. This is much worse after a fire in the home, where there was a lot more smoke.
Soot is created during incomplete combustion of materials in a fire. The combination of the small soot particles with the warping of surfaces as the fire burns makes it easy for soot to bond to all kinds of things. Soot can bond to:
- Wooden furniture and floors
- Melted plastic surfaces such as kitchen utensils or toys
- Textiles, including clothes, linens, and towels
- Books, magazines, and artwork
There are several different types of soot, including dry soot, wet soot, and protein soot. Dry soot is easy to wipe or vacuum away, but wet soot is much stickier and bonds deeply with surfaces. Protein soot, which usually occurs due to a kitchen fire, is particularly bad-smelling.
Why is odor removal such an essential part of fire cleanup and restoration?
The first step in fire cleanup is assessing the situation and drawing up a cleaning plan. SERVPRO technicians use a range of mechanical actions and carefully chosen cleaning products to remove soot stains and restore your home.
Our team can also plan and supervise restoration jobs, such as:
- Removing and replacing damaged parts of the walls or ceilings
- Fixing or disposing of soot-damaged electrical items
- Hanging new wallpaper and replacing burned carpets
- Sending rugs and drapes out for professional cleaning at our off-site facility
- Remediating smoke damage on furniture and textiles
We also extract water leftover from fire-fighting and dry out your home if needed.
When we have finished cleanup and drying, we turn our attention to odor removal. Odor removal is an essential step because smoke particles can spread throughout your home and cause nasty smells. Our job is to locate both obvious and not so apparent sources of odors and remediate them.
What can SERVPRO do to remove odors?
We train our technicians to use a range of odor-fighting techniques. In cases of fire cleanup/restoration, we might choose from:
- Air scrubbers that have several powerful filters, including carbon filters, to trap soot particles
- Ozone that which energize oxygen to create ozone, which in turn traps odors by oxidizing the odor-causing particles
- Hydroxyl generators that transform contaminating particles into a harmless mixture of water and carbon dioxide
- Thermal fogging that uses heat to produce a fine fog of cleaning chemicals that is easy to spray into the tiniest nooks and crannies
The choice of technique is individual to each situation. We train our teams to understand the theory of odor removal and assess which approach is best.
For example, ozone generators are powerful but are not safe for use while your home is occupied. Ozone can also be harmful to pets and plants. Ozone generators are a good choice if you are not living in your home during remediation. Hydroxyl generators are gentler and might be a better choice if you live at home during remediation. Hydroxyl generators are safe for use in occupied houses. Thermal fogging is not always suitable for delicate fabrics, so our technicians test all textiles before using a fogging machine.
What about smelly carpets or other textiles?
Sometimes smoke smells get buried in carpets, drapes, rugs, linens, and clothes. We can use spot cleaning or ultrasonic cleaning to dislodge soot particles and remove odors. We can also send items to our cleaning facility for gentle yet effective hydraulic cleaning using the ESPORTA system.
If you are worried about smoky smells after a fire, call SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500.

Our owner Kirk Mcdonald is the proud receiver of award recognition in this community and has built us a diverse roster of restoration technicians. Contact us today to see how we can help you overcome a property emergency cleanly and efficiently.
Water
The impact of water damage in your Kent home can be a short-term blip or a longstanding issue. Which of the two options occurs depends on how well you respond to the initial problem. Moisture can become cancer for a property bringing in mold, bacterias, and rot, which can appear as yellowing, discoloration of fabrics or paintwork, and unpleasant odor. However, you do not need to panic. We can help to mitigate existing losses, reverse some damages, and help you to complete a stress-free claims procedure.
Using professional restoration services is your home's best chance of making a complete recovery with no secondary damage concerns. SERVPRO technicians live and work in Kent, allowing us to guarantee a call-out time of within four hours of notification of loss. The shorter the call out times are, the more likely it is that precious items like carpets, furnishings, and upholstery can make a full recovery when items like these suffer exposure to moisture for a prolonged period the likelihood of permanent harm increases.
SERVPRO restoration service trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art air-scrubbing equipment. Air-scrubbers fitted with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) grade filters can remove microbes as small as 0.3 microns, restoring your indoor air quality to its preloss state.
Fire
Fires release hot smoke into the surrounding environment, which can contain chemicals as well as leaving behind a residue of soot and ash. During a fire, smoke is attracted to cooler surfaces, which may result in the interior of cabinets, cupboards, and drawers sustaining substantial fire damage in your Kent home. To complicate matters, interior cabinets often feature unfinished materials, which, during the high-pressure of a fire, can result in soiling bonding with the surface of your fittings.
SERVPRO restoration services tailor our approach to the specific needs of each Kent resident. We achieve this by conducting a thorough pre-test of materials as well as smoke deposits. Some deposits may be dry and comfortable to vacuum away, and others may have a greasy, oil-based texture that requires a concentrated, attentive restoration service. There is also the issue of smokes or soot spreading during cleaning and affecting previously unaffected areas.
One way a Kent homeowner can speed up the restoration service is by covering any items, surfaces, and floors with old sheets to prevent cross-contamination. SERVPRO technicians can deploy negative air-pressure machines during cleaning to draw any remnants of soots or smoke out of the affected area. The ducts of a negative air pressure machine draw soiling out of the affected area and are released outside of the home through an exterior exhaust, creating negative air pressure. These can be vital in preventing cross-contamination and removing larger particles that can affect indoor air quality.
Mold
We make it our mission to inform homeowners with mold damage in Kent about how and why these issues occur. By sharing our accumulated knowledge and experience, SERVPRO restoration services hope to reduce the impact of microbial fungi across this community. It is crucial to understand that mold is a natural part of your home environment. It is only when these dry spores come into contact with moisture and proliferate that mold becomes an issue for a Kent homeowner.
Mold proliferates when there are ideal temperatures, a food-supply as well as a source of moisture. The first thing SERVPRO can do in your property is to find, dry, or shut off the source of moisture. This vital action prevents mold from coming back during or after the restoration service. SERVPRO technicians may also recommend you install a vapor barrier or consider replacing insulation in some regions of your Kent home if you suffer from persistent microbial growth issues.
Industrial cleaning equipment can make a restoration service much less time-consuming. At SERVPRO, one versatile piece of equipment we use is a truck-mount. Truck-mounts are adaptable and can be used in water, fire, and storm restoration services. These equipment combine an extraction tool, heating elements as well as dispersal of cleaning agents. During microbial remediation, SERVPRO technicians can load a truck mount with anti-microbial cleaners and apply it directly to areas of infestation in the home, such as upholstery, to not only clean these items but also protect them against future damages.
Storm
There is a tight timeframe when it comes to storm damage here in Kent. In rough weather conditions or the threat of an impending flood, you may need to evacuate your home temporarily. SERVPRO recommends that you put together a storm preparation plan well ahead of time as well as a kit of valuable documents, medicine, and communication equipment. Ideas for storm kits are available on state websites as well as news agencies and libraries. Planning does not make a storm emergency any less debilitating, but it can smooth the transition period and secure your safety.
For Kent homeowners, being displaced can cause anxiety. While away, there is a chance your home and contents suffer exposure to the elements. SERVPRO is here to safeguard your property during the interim period. Our role is a go-between for first responders and general construction services. We can enter the property, restore power, perform safety and scoping tasks as well as begin to mitigate losses immediately.
Emergency services may include board-ups or sealing cavities in your Kent home's structure using tarps. Inside the property, we can rapidly remove standing water, pre-clean carpets, and put in place equipment to begin the drying process. These steps can prove vital in the restoration service, preventing excessive loss as well as creating a safe space for third-party workers to enter and perform specialist rebuilding.
When you face a property emergency, you are not alone. For water, mold, storm, or fire-related damages, contact SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500.
Can I Save Money and Time by Cleaning Up Water Damage in Kent Myself?
6/14/2020 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Kent can help keep minor leaks and spills from significantly damaging your home.
A Coordinated Team of Well-Trained and Equipped Workers Is Why SERVPRO Preserves Your Kent Home from Secondary Damage
When a pipe leaks or the dishwasher overflows, it seems as though an afternoon, some focus, and a little hard work should be enough to banish the suds, fluids, and nuisance from your life. Unfortunately, water damage in Kent does not work quite that way. Structures rarely are watertight, so there is a significant chance that a percentage of the leaked or spilled water migrates into cracks and crevices or soaks into permeable structural components like drywall and subfloors.
What Happens When Water Migrates?
Water damage in your Kent home can spread widely without you realizing. The moisture saturating building materials and contents is not benign. If not found and removed within hours or days, it can cause progressive damage, including mold growth, that exposes your home and possibly your health to unacceptable risks. Secondary damage manifests as the following, among other issues:
• Swollen wood framing, joists, studs
• Oxidized (rusted) metal fasteners and supports
• Distorted milled wood products like doors, windows, and their frames
• Warped sub-floors and hardwood strip or planks
• Bulging or cracked drywall and lath and plaster
• Stained and ill-fitting ceiling tiles

Can This Damage Be Fixed?
If caught soon enough, some of the material prone to secondary damage can recover, although at higher cost and level of disruption than if the water was managed appropriately at the onset. This is why SERVPRO’s approach is fundamental to the best outcomes. We arrive quickly and trace the pathways water took after the original crisis with moisture detectors and meters. Finding and releasing the water, followed by effective structural drying, brings your home back to preloss condition.
SERVPRO of Kent can help keep minor leaks and spills from significantly damaging your home. Give us a call at (253) 850-1500 for advice on how we can help address water damage in your home.

Why is SERVPRO my best option for water cleanup?
Our credentials speak for themselves, as does our work experience. Our team of technicians holds certifications by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), which is the certifying entity for our industry. As we go about your property and assess the damage, we identify the areas we can utilize to isolate those items still in good repair. By using separation barriers, we can prevent cross-contamination and further damage. For the actual extraction of water in your home, our SERVPRO crew relies on a combination of equipment and techniques to achieve success. In our business, we strive to mitigate your losses, but we do not rush at the expense of your personal belongings. In developing a plan, we consider the following among others:
- Is there water hiding under your cabinets or within your walls? If so, we can use a wand extractor to access it.
- Do you have hardwood floors, and are they buckling? The humidity in your wooden floors will guide us as we carefully dry them to avoid damage.
- Are your valuable documents wet? If so, we can apply freeze-drying techniques to preserve them.

Why SERVPRO Handles Kent Water Removal with Ease
When you have pets, and kids in the home, a random bit of water showing up on the kitchen floor does not immediately bring the term "water damage" to mind. You are probably already trying to figure out which child or pet spilled the water.
A homeowner in Kent contacted SERVPRO for water removal from her kitchen floor. The technicians quickly traced the cause of the water to a supply line break under the sink. Upon inspection, the technicians found there had been a slow leak for a while. Water ran under the cabinet and exited in front of the sink in small amounts whenever anyone used the faucet.
Why SERVPRO?
The highly trained, certified technicians not only clean up properties with a water loss, but they also have the knowledge and experience to figure out the cause and fix it, so the homeowners do not experience a repeat of the same incident.
Water Extraction and Prepping for Drying
The sheetrock under the cabinet leaked too much moisture over an extended period and required removal. SERVPRO techs removed the toe kick for both extraction and drying needs. This negated having to pull the cabinets out for during the drying phase of mitigation. While there was very little standing water, the area of the affected walls and under the cabinet showed high elevations of moisture on the detection equipment.
Drying with Precision
Once the controlled demo actions completed, SERVPRO techs set up air movers and dehumidification units to direct the airflow at the opened wall cavities and within the cabinet area and remove embedded moisture. The techs monitor the process carefully and take readings while the equipment is running to ensure the loss areas attain drying goals.
No Waiting for Repairs
With their general contractor license #SERVPCS911LE, SERVPRO offers homeowners the option to have the same team that does the cleanup also handle the rebuilding, and this makes the time to get your home back to normal even quicker.
When your home requires fast water removal, contact SERVPRO of Kent at (253) 850-1500. The certified techs are ready 24/7 to restore your home to its preloss condition, "Like it never even happened."

We used our dehumidifiers with our air movers, to dry away moisture on the surface of this home after water damage struck.
Two Approaches for Drying Wood Frame Wall Cavities in Kent Homes
Structural cavities can be a vital component to Kent home construction because it allows for a sightless distribution of utilities like the water lines heading to fixtures throughout the residence. When plumbing breaks or leaks occur in this cavity between rooms or floors of your house, responding to the problem immediately is critical. While homeowners can respond fast with shutting off the water supply to the damaged pipe, our SERVPRO professionals have effective strategies for drying out moist structural cavities.
Choosing the best approach for drying out damaged cavities and beginning water removal in Kent homes is a product of thorough inspections and scoping of the work to get done. With sophisticated moisture detection tools, we can visualize the spread of dampness, even before we remove the drywall and other saturated materials. This knowledge can help our professionals to determine the best potential approach to drying out the affected space in one of two typical approaches.
Positive Pressure Systems
When standing water is not believed to be a threat that our technicians should expect in the damaged cavity, positive pressure approaches can be useful. These systems involve removing the baseboard from the wall surface and drill holes through the drywall to the cavity. Hoses from the machine get inserted at regular intervals into these pre-drilled holes. When the hoses get installed, the unit can get turned on to begin forcing direct heated air into this cavity to expedite drying.
Flood Cuts
Flood cutting involves removing a water damaged portion of drywall up to an established dryline. Our team can use moisture detection tools to deduce where saturation stops to remove all of the damp sheetrock beneath this labeled line. With controlled demolition complete, our SERVPRO team can bring in low-profile centrifugal air movers for the vaporization of moisture and refrigerant dehumidifiers to collect this moisture in the air.
No matter which solution that your property needs, you have a team of dedicated professionals that can help. Our SERVPRO of Kent water restoration specialists have the tools and expertise to make losses “Like it never even happened.” Call us today at (253) 850-1500.

The teddy bears, awaiting their forever homes.
SERVPRO of Kent was fortunate enough to be invited to join Puget Sound Fire during one of their community outreach projects.
Their goal was to facilitate interaction between children and emergency responders to build trust and raise their level of comfort. They do this by opening up the fire station and inviting children and their families.
SERVPRO of Kent donated over 200 teddy bears for the children to keep. The children would bring the bears to a fire fighter and watch as they checked their vitals; listened to their heartbeat, checked their pulse, etc.
It was a fun day for everyone involved, especially the kids.
